Psoas Stretch

Stretch: Psoas Major, Iliacus
Activate: Abdominals, Gluteus Maximus, Hamstrings
ROM: 30 degrees
This classic hip flexor mobilization is enhanced through correct set-up and execution of the active stretch. Note, the non-exercising knee starts behind the ankle and finishes stacked above the ankle in the stretch position. Avoid compensation in which the non- exercising knee tracks forward of the ankle.

Activate: Abdominals, Gluteus Maximus, Hamstrings
ROM: 30 degrees
Adding the side bend should help you feel the stretch more in the upper fibers of the psoas.

Finally, we finish with the World’s Best Stretch. Take note that much of the rotation in the sequence is across the shoulders. Imagine the lower body maintains a neutral (non-rotation) position, while the spine twists above the navel.
